Traveling with chicks

I will be getting 4 new chicks at the end of May. We leave for the summer and bring our chickens with us, from FL to NC. Wondering how to travel with these babies while keeping them warm and draft free. My husbands thinks a box with a hand warmer in the corner will do it.
Suggestions??

With all the problems going on in California due to people illegally transporting chickens, it would be wise to learn the requirements for importing chickens into North Carolina and the requirements for transporting chickens through the states you will be traveling through.
