my local exotic animal vets are quite expensive. I paid $20 for the bunny, $400 for the spay and More than $1100 treating her when she poked her eye with a cage wire

Eqimax paste is safe for ducks and the dose is the same as chickens.Hi! I know this is an old thread, but I am hoping someone can give me advice.
I got a fecal test done for both my chickens and ducks and they came back positive for tapeworm (and I saw tapeworm in my duck’s pool).
I already treated the chickens with Equimax paste, but am wondering if the paste is also safe for ducks? If so, is the dosing the same as chickens?
Thank you!
Thank you so much for the response @casportpony! One last question- I do sell the their eggs to my neighbors, what is the very safe egg withdrawal time?Eqimax paste is safe for ducks and the dose is the same as chickens.
You're welcome! I think I remember reading that the withdrawal time for Ivermectin was 8 weeks.Thank you so much for the response @casportpony! One last question- I do sell the their eggs to my neighbors, what is the very safe egg withdrawal time?
Thanks, Mary! I understand that those medications aren’t approved for poultry, but I do feel comfortable using them based on years of evidence of safety. I wish I had access to a vet that would provide a prescription for an approved med! (And I wish that there were more options for poultry).Actually there's no official egg withdrawal time for Ivermectin or praziquantel, or any other unapproved product. We tend to pick a number of days, or whatever, that seems reasonable, because the product will have very little still present in the eggs, probably.
This is not the same as an 'approved withdrawal time' because there isn't one for products that aren't supposed to be used at all.
Mary
Equimax or Zimecterin Gold equine paste. Most use Equimax for tapeworms. Thanks, Mary! What do you use for your birds when they have tapeworm?
