Treats for chicks! And taming

I Also discovered that my little chicks love apple peelings. Ironically i was making chicken salad. I had some celery tops and apple peelings left so i chopped both up and put it in the brooder pin. The apple disappeared quickly. They elected ti leave the celery.

Oh my girls have found a love for mashed potatoes, lol. I just threw some scratch into a Tupperware lid, they don't seem enthused by the scratch but it seemed like they like the feeling of it on their feet...silly birds.

my chicks think cage bird finch seed is the best stuff ever. I posted a video on her today called chick training. Just taught them to eat out of hand and jump up on leg today

Do you place grit directly on the ground or in a feeder? I'm very excited about treats for these babies but I'm still a little new to the scene. Grit helps break down the food I'm assuming. So it's not something that needs to be there all the time but when feeding the girls extras? Can you add the grit directly to the feed? Thanks in advance.

Only leave it in the brooder for a couple of hours then remove it. I found by the third day my chicks were enjoying it. I only leave it a few hours so they will eat their food instead of the grit. My chicks are 3 weeks old and its the first time ive had chicks in years
