Treats for chicks...

Leftovers, scratch, a little bread, cheese -- most anything. I have never been able to get them to eat BOSS. You can give them most anything, including meats. There is a treat chart on here somewhere. There are a few things to avoid -- lots of fat or salt, chocolate, sweets in general, and others.

My girls love anything I give them. They especially love watermellon. We grew mellons this year, they were only baseball sized so the girls got all of them.
I have a little blue bowl I scrape the days plates into. When they see me coming out the back door with the little blue bowl, they sure come runnin.

Hmm, I am worried that I have picky eaters. My girls are 4 weeks old today (happy birthday ladies). So far the only thing they will eat is scrambled eggs. I even gave them juicy strawberries and they turned their little beaks up. They wouldn't eat yogurt either. Someone at work gave me a small watermelon so I will try that today. Should I keep introducing new foods to them?

Mine all go crazy as well except Lulu, our lame sometimes house chicken. She is so gentle - when feeding her from your hand, most of the time she picks the food up so gently you don't even feel her beak. She does not peck at your hand, she delicately picks up the food. What a sweetie!

I have 6 (3 Roos 3 Hens) who are about 5 months old and they love cherry tomatoes, grapes, bananas, hay, bread, pretty much anything. I just take any veggies/fruits that are starting to go bad and see if they'll eat it.

I didnt know they liked meat though or lettuce, Ill have to try some different things and see what they think- thanks!

"Mine also like rasins and black oil sunflower seeds (BOSS)..."

Mine seem to be eating the BOSS more right now. I wonder if it's because the weather is turning colder...

Yesterday I cleaned out the fridge and they got some shepherds pie made with elk meat - they went crazy! They eat the meat first and then the cheese and veggie's last... LOL
