Treats question...anyone else have picky chickens???

Always glad to hear my flock is normal - mine like everything except carrots and celery. They prefer somethings over others - like...they'll eat zucchini, but not with the gusto they have for yams.

I put some baby carrots out for my chickies as a treat and they pretty much scoffed at them. I had cut them up and left some whole. They love raw veggies other than carrots. So it must be a carrot thing eh?

Mine love yams! But they hate carrots too, odd. Nobody here likes celery so I haven't tried that. They like all kinds of berries.

And I though I was giving them such a treat when I came home with a whole bowl of snails and slugs one day, but they all turned up their beaks and complained! Jeez. I mean. Even the turkey, who almost never even sees what she eats she's so food-obsessed.

Mine go crazy for strawberries, blackberries, squash, tomato & dry oatmeal. Cooked oatmeal and leafy greens they will not touch but the do eat grass...

Mine go nuts for spaghetti! It is so funny to watch. Only one turns her nose..ahh beak up to it. I have not tried carrots raw or cooked. As for not eating their regular feed...I am new with raising chickens so I cant give any advise, but hope it works out.

There must be something with carrotts..because our chickens will not eat carrots either... they will eat the green tops of the carrots, but not the carrot itself. They love, love pasta noodles of any kind, and bread is a favorite. They don't care for lettuce either. I made some oatmeal cookies the other day and took the leftovers out and our turkey devoured them... she followed me around all day long!
