Trespassing neighbor with dog chasing chickens

So wow, a second neighbor just walked into my driveway and chased my chickens. She was encouraging her dog to chase them. What the hell is wrong with people? I really want to trespass her azz but we live two doors apart and I don’t want to wreck the neighborhood.

She is already wrecking the neighbourhood by trespassing on your property and encouraging her dog to chase your chickens!

She was chasing your birds out of your garden and into the road where they could cause a traffic accident or get killed.

See if you can speak to her about it, and depending on her reaction, warn her that you’d report her to your local police.

Your front garden isn’t a dog park!

We are wacko in Cali, but they do have this

OMG! Wreck the neighborhood? You sound like me, I hate to make issues, even if I did nothing. But in this case...

I took my dog to the dog park and there were some dogs harassing him, he's deaf and at the time he was still a pup. I went home and did some research on this, how to handle it, and here's what I learned about pets being treated unkindly by others.

"Our pets are in our care, and we are responsible for them. They need to be able to trust us, and know that we're "their person," their protector."

I really took that to heart, and why was I worrying about saying something to the other dogs' owners, when they were in the wrong? If someone bullied one of my kids or grandkids, I'd certainly step up and do something.

Chickens don't have a lot of defenses to help them when a predator is running at them like that. She could have been killed.

I'm so sorry this neighbor is an awful person, I could feel my whole body tense up watching that video. I would definitely take a copy of the video to the police and file an informational report. I'd also show the video to your local SPCA or Animal Control and ask that they send someone out to speak to this woman. I don't know if this is possible, but I'd ask.

This is not a time to be timid about the neighborhood, this person will set her dog on more than your chickens in the future if left go without consequences.
Contact the police.
They have laws regarding this everywhere, town or country.

Don't go it alone. Your trespasser was breaking the law. Report them and make sure the police see the video.

That's terribly irresponsible of that lady to let her dog go after your chickens like that! I am inclined to wonder, however, perhaps she thinks it's "cute" to let the dog chase them and doesn't think it will hurt them. (Though what she's doing in your yard in the first place, I don't know.)
Some people have way too much confidence in their dogs, and assume that if they are gentle with cats and other dogs, they will be fine with chickens. Wrong. (Perhaps they have been watching too many cute little animal videos with dogs and poultry playing together?) We have had experiences with a small dog belonging to a visitor lunging repeatedly at our chickens (he was on a leash, so he couldn't get them, luckily) and the owner's attitude was "he won't hurt them, he just wants to play".
I'm sorry that you have to deal with this, and I hope that whatever you decide to do works out well for you. As Ridgerunner pointed out above, though, be careful that the local ordinances are on your side before you call the cops.
