One of my friends cracked me up tonight. She called & said "Let's go to dinner, scrape the turkey s**t off your shoes & I'll pick you up in 20 mins ". The funny thing was I had just finished cleaning pens. Only a good friend would know the probable state of my shoes!

So, anybody have any thoughts about why turkeys seem to seek out & enjoy human contact? Just thinking about Aurora's story about Eve. And my own experience with two hens who were older when I got them and quickly turned into lappers. At first, I thought it was food motivated, like my chickens. Then I thought it was because I have no toms. Or maybe they are just smarter than I thought and figured out how to manipulate me! Remember I've trained performance dogs for 30 years so I'm exceedingly interested in behavior. Just curious to hear ya'll's has a take on turkey behavior.....

My girls throw up their tails when they feel threatened. They've done twice when hawks swooped in to close. They also did it when they caught that weird guy walking down my driveway. Betting I'll never see him again! He about jumped out of his Micheal Jordan's!

I can't do a thing without turkeys lending a helping wing. Aurora you remind me of Ralph trying to work in the SS pen!!

Daisy likes to wander around on top of my garage. When I shake the treat can she can't fly down fast enough. Guess Snitch wasn't sure about the camera. Need to get her used to phone cameras. When she wins her first Best In Show she'll need to know how to pose for her glamour shots!

Rjohns, you just have to get them used to seeing the camera. Ya gotta sit out there with them & get them used to you hanging around. And seeing the phone. I'm worried Daisy will figure out how to use my phone. Afraid she'll start ordering herself pizzas.

Ralph....I'd be hard pressed to send her to a new home. But I know Holm will take care of her.

Had to laugh at my two. I found this chicken toy. A plastic ball that you put treats in and they are supposed to roll it around and treats spew out. The turkeys were hysterical with it. Such goobers. And chirping away like crazy the whole time!
