Well my two spoiled turkey hen divas have a 14" wide platform 12" above finished floor from which they hop up onto their 2×4 roost which is another 12" stair-stepped above said platform. The reasoning is they don't have to hop down very far all at once....avoiding a hard or damaging landing. This set up is 6'wide, allowing 3 feet per bird. They also like to lounge on the wide 14" platform. This, along with their economically designed nest boxes, have put all my design skills to a test. All to prevent crumpled tail feathers and an accident dismounting their roost. Have I gone too far?

Fun with turkeys! Great stories. My girls are almost completely recovered from their molt. and are looking beautiful....if I do say so...

They're still not comfortable with the new pup. They need councilling. And to make matters worse, I had another dog come in last night for a show this weekend. Boy are their beaks out of joint!! And the chickens don't pay a bit of attention to any of the dogs.

Annie has taken a dislike to my turkey sitter. She displays and all her feathers stand on end. She acts like she wants to attack her. This has been going on for a few months. She doesn't react like that to anyone else. Anyone have any ideas why she would would of a sudden take a dislike to one specific person. This is someone she sees on a regular basis. Daisy loves her and will run over to greet her.

Loved the rooster story R2elk! That's a funny thread.

I hate reading about all the cold weather. It's not too bad here...yet. What I hate is the lack of daylight. I loose all momentum when I get home from work and it's dark....just want to crawl in bed. Blah! My turkeys do like the cooler weather tho.

R2elk...I believe your right. Annie is jealous of my chicken sitter. She lives two doors down so we see her a lot.

Sabrina is lucky you got her! Aurora, speaking of turkeys...what did you end up keeping from that Porters "sale" batch? I remember you were hoping for some penciling.

It was nice enough this weekend I spent a lot of time outside getting things ready for winter. (Such as it is) The girls are such a help. LOL! I spend twice the time working on things with their "help", but they sure are funny!

Aliciaplus3....looks to me your babies are well on their way to being proper lappers!
