I was sitting on the front porch steps while the girls were grazing yesterday evening. Daisy ended up sitting next to me on the step. Still can't touch her, but she likes to hang out. Neighbor walked over to chat. He noticed when he spoke, she'd look at him. When I spoke, she would look at me. Completely freaked him out that the bird was apparently following our conversation. LOL!

We are calling it Hot-tober. Been in the 90's. We are still spraying for mosquitoes. Thankfully its cooling off to the mid 70's at night. Humidity is low...so I'm not complaining. Much....

Apparently I have two friends that want to do something with all these feathers. Been collecting them. Have a box I walk around with to put them in. Been causing lots of interest with the flock. Set it on the ground & everyone stuck their beaks in it to investigate. Nosy girls...

Boy Daisy is starting to look great sporting her new feathers. And I think she knows it! I'll get pics once she's feathered out. Annie is several weeks behind. Still mostly quills. Daisy still wont let me touch her, but shes sitting on my chair arm or sitting next to me on the porch. I think shes starting to feel better. Shes been flying around a lot. Annie is still a grump. Ran into a neighbor with a baby in a stroller. Daisy stood staring at the little guy. Annie was trying to steal the tires off the stroller.

Driving home from work yesterday afternoon my cars outside thermometer read 99. Already almost 80 this morning. Glad I filled their wading pools. Hoping we don't go from hot weather straight into winter without a few nice fall days.
Always surprised how bright Daisy's new feathers are. And Annie's are such a deep red. They are so pretty sporting new feathers! Guess one good think about continued hot weather is the little moths still settling in the grass. Daisy spent a lot of time hunting tonight on our walk. Love watching that!

"Pack of feathers"....LOL! That's funny! I do agree with Aurora.

We are having record setting heat. Its October and we are still dealing with heat indexes. Still using fans & wading pools. Just annoying!

Girls had a nice stroll yesterday evening. Met our new neighbors a few doors down. They had " heard" they had turkey neighbors and were anxious to meet them. Seems most of the neighbors introduced themselves & asked if they meet the turkeys yet. Girls were curious. Daisy of course stood listening to every word while Annie tried to steal their shoes.

Oh Aurora....I'm so sorry. Not was what I was expecting. Thought she was going to make it.

Sfgwife/Aurora...the new neighbors noticed us on our stroll & came over. First words out of their mouths were that they heard about the turkeys. I introduced myself. They barely acknowledged me and wanted to know THEIR names. They were excited to finally meet the neighborhood turkeys. As usual, they couldn't understand why they don't run/fly away and just trudge along behind me. The girls are definitely an oddity in an urban setting. The neighbors really appreciate them. Thankfully! I'm sure they make interesting party conversation for most. They enjoy visiting with them. I usually get a nice "hello" then they proceed to talk to & pet the girls. They bring friends & family over to meet them. I could disappear into the woodwork & most wouldn't notice. LOL!

As soon as Daisy gets all her feathers in I need to take some glamour shots. I'm fascinated by how her black spots change yearly. This year she is sporting long black streaks on her tail. I'm going to put her on one of my grooming tables & stack her like I would a dog. LOL. Humor me, I realize she's no more beautiful than any other blue slate hen with new feathers. I'll be sending the pics to my family just to annoy them! My family, who think she looks prehistoric, still doesn't get the turkey "thing". My family is divided into two camps. Those who are polite about it, ( Yes dear she is pretty, for a turkey) and those who just assume I've lost my mind & need intervention. LOL!!

Seriously....how can Cuddles be even cuter? Romeo & Cuddles are such cool turkeys!

Took the girls for a stroll last night. I've been mostly keeping them in back away from folks during the worst of their molt. Due to excessive grumpiness. Had several folks stop to inquire where they've been. Ended up a yard down chatting with several neighbors. Girls joined in. Got the feeling they both missed social hour! Wonder if that's possible.
