Auroras flock takes the team approach. I agree with Ralphie....know your bird! Mine shared custody of two chicks last year. The chicken hens ignored the babies. The Turkey hens proved to be great moms. But no toms here.

Sunny & 60. Turkey girls out sun bathing. Catching a little vitamin D!

Question....can turkeys eat rolled oats? As in Quaker Oats? Someone asked...I don't know...mine only get a bit of BOSS at bedtime. Since they free range...I'm not into treats.

Alicia....those baby pics are wonderful!

Daisy was grazing in the front yard. I wandered down a yard to chat with some neighbors. Daisy flew a yard & a half to catch up with me. The cluster of neighbors gave her a standing ovation . Well, okay they were already standing, but they all clapped. Everyone seems to appreciate a big blue bird going airborne. Speaking of big blue birds...I picked her & Annie up the other day & plopped them on a grooming table just to check them out. Geez...they haven't missed many meals. Little porkers. Kind of surprised Daisy can get her fat butt off the ground!

Alicia...are you selling some? Will you become a poult pusher like Aurora?

Back to rain here. But its warm. However, there is a cold front moving in and we may have a "weather event" this weekend. Meaning we could get a city shut down whole half an inch of snow. Turkeys could care less about snow. They will trudge through anything. The chickens think the world is ending.

I've been involved with dogs for over 30 years. I have some of the top performance dogs in the states & Canada. I breed maybe one litter a year. I decided early on it was a hobby. Not something I'd ever make money on. I always felt if I needed to sell a puppy because I needed the money...it would put the joy of my hobby into a different category. It's great to make up for some of the expenses, like showing. But like most craft people (especially the fiber arts like quilting) you never really make up for the time you put in.

Seems this coonhound has taken care of a handful of possum and a racoon roaming the yard. Quickly & efficiently. No fuss, breaks their neck, shakes 'em a time or two, drops 'em & off he trots. After having to knock a few possum in the head with my shovel...I much prefer this method! Of course if he runs something up a tree the whole neighborhood hears about it.

Found Daisy standing on my back porch. All by herself. Boy was she yapping. Annie was still in the back part of the yard screaming & pacing. Not sure what Daisy thought she was doing....guess she flew over the fence. We had a quick chat and off to bed they went...

You'd like this hound Ralphie. Nice guy. Easy going. Good in the house. Does his best work at night.
