Hi Grammy....welcome!

I do like my neighbors Aurora. No real jerks. Daisy sure likes them all! LOL!!

Will be sporting my coonhound to the events on the 4th. I'll let you know how many people call him a beagle! We get that a lot! He's so big....a beagle could literally walk underneath him. Other than color, he doesn't even look like a beagle. Of course when those guineas were loose folks thought they were my turkeys....sigh....

So it's a weight thing. I agree with Ralphie. Wow! Shame....
Alicia....keeping my fingers crossed for Blue Slates!
Had our cookout last night. Hot but fun. Of course Daisy was absent but I escorted several gaggles of kids to go visit her. They have little friends & cousins here for the festivities. Many have never met a turkey....can you believe? She had her beak out of joint because I wouldn't let her go to the party....but got over herself when the kids showed up!
And no one called my coonhound a beagle. I have to admit, he's getting to be a hunk of a hound. He's two now and starting to mature. Coonhounds can have a "tough" expression which can be off putting. But hes quite social. Wanted to play with some of the other dogs....but I think they were intimidated with his size. I think he got his feelings hurt a bit. Hes still a big baby!!

The parade went off without a hitch! Hundreds of folks participated! Fire trucks hooked up & sprayed down the crowd. Most of the kids have their swimsuits on under their clothes. Pretty cute! Took the coonhound. Crowds & noise didn't bother him. He just wanted to play with other dogs. Found a basset....cute girl with big ears....he fell in love! He's naturally attracted to other hounds. She was smitten too! No one called him a beagle! In fact I had several people tell me how beautiful he is. Had to refrain from saying, " if you think he's beautiful, I gotta turkey you should meet"! LOL! Told the kids Daisy was taking a nap, so no visitors. And I'm not about to tell her she missed another party! She's still annoyed she didn't get to go to the BBQ! Told her she's lucky she wasn't the guest of honor!!

So our heat index was over 100 yesterday. Same forecast for today. It's tough on all the birds. I hate it when they pant. But lots of shade, water & fans. Tough on me too! Hiding indoors! But the biggest wimp of all is the coonhound! Boy is he a creature of comfort! Found him yesterday sleeping on a cool leather couch. Upside down, fully stretched out, long legs in the air, snoring. Wish I had a pic. But he moved as soon as I came in the room.
