Hate your heading into snow Ralph. Its going to be a shock after 70 degree weather down here. Can't wait to see Gingers glamour shots!!

I'm going to try and get pictures of Annie this week. She looks pitiful...she has lost the bulk of her feathers! Down to only a few tail feathers. Poor naked girl! Unlike my chickens, it doesn't seem to bother her. My chickens tend to be embarrassed when molting.

Guess I'll never learn! :( The girls haven't been out to the front yard clover patch all weekend. Got home early & decided to chance it. I was keeping a close eye on Annie so she wouldn't steal someone's car when Daisy decided to run after a jogger. Scared the crap out of her. I kept yelling at her to stop so I could grab my turkey. She never stopped, nor did she stop screaming. Finally caught up & got a hold of Daisy. Picked her up to walk back to the house & the whole flock was streaming after us. They are all grounded now!

OMG Ralph! That's a great story! I can't even imagine that many turkeys chasing me!

I had my back to the jogger. Didn't hear her coming. Daisy just took off flapping. I was irritated she wouldn't stop for me to catch Daisy. Crocks are hard to run in!! Then to turn around to see the whole molting, feather flying flock of chickens with Annie leading the way following us. Thank God a car wasn't coming. That was it...keeping them in back.

Hey did you guys read Holm's article "Caring for a Broody "? Cute pictures too. He's a pretty cool kid!

Ralph. ..did you make it to Iowa? Hoping you can beat the snow home! Bet you can't wait to see your flock!

Ohhh....broodies & babies! Ya'll I'm jealous! Feisty, I've always had mixed results trying to break a broody. Tried all the tricks. Some seem to break easily and then some are just plain determined. I can usually break my Speckled Sussex by just tossing them off the nest repeatedly for about a week. I've never been able to break any of the Barnevelders. And I'm batting 500 with the Australorps. Luckily they have all been sweet. They just fluff up & turn into pancakes. No biting. When it's 106°F here in the summer is when I worry about them. The heat is tough & I'm always afraid I'll find a roasted bird in a box!

I finished shopping early this year! Totally impressed with myself! :D. Still need to finish wrapping. I do need to get a few cards out tho.....

Feisty, I can work from home. So I've been trying to get home around 3:00 just for some turkey time. Don't always make it. Can't wait for longer days!

Aurora, what's the date of your hatch? Please post pictures! I want babies so bad! I'll have to travel for work in January but will probably get a few chicks to brood in February. Any body live near Salt Lake City? I'll be out there a lot in January. I had a project in Miami back in July. What's wrong with this picture? I'm just not living right!
