I may be over thinking the differences in turkey temperaments. I've been an AKC judge so long...and expect to see a difference in temperament or skill sets in different dog breeds. For instance Herding breeds want to herd, Working breeds want to work, and Terrier breeds are referred to as the "Terribles" for a reasons. And even amid various breeds within the same Group there are differences. Hounds...some hunt by scent (Dachshund ), some hunt by sight (Afghan). So I was assuming that there was differences between Heritage turkey breeds. Is one breed considered to be friendlier, is another breed known to be more aloof. Smarter, dumber, aggressive, laid back...you get the idea. There are differences in chicken breeds. Still curious....

I'll pour a drink to a Creamettes! I was just needing an excuse! :D
I did look them up...very cute...love their little feather tuft hats!

So why do my turkeys occasionally lay soft shelled eggs? They are on chicken layer with a dish of oyster shell. They also free range several house a day. Could it be stress? They have only been here a few months. Maybe they haven't settled in completely. I have to travel for business. ..would that affect them? Me being gone a few days? I have a chicken sitter that looks in on them twice a day. I've never had this happen with the chickens.

Uh...yeah...there is another name for Creamettes some people prefer. Ralph, just post a picture. They are cute!

Feisty...glad Turkules is getting better! He's beautiful. The babies are adorable.

I have to tuck in my turkeys each night. Started with just herding them back into the pen. But they finally caught on to the fact they got a treat before bedtime. So now I just stand at the gate & call them.

Hey Ralphie...how is Ethel doing? Is she still trying to get to her babies?

My Daisy decided she's a lap turkey.
