Yes...go for it!! Esther needs a sweetgrass or three!! I just love it when kids are so invested in their turkeys!! The 6 year old here is still trying to convince her dad she needs turkeys.

Turkey-Tuck-In-Time here is easy! But then again I only have two! They come with me to lock up the chickens, then we walk to their pen & they hop right in. They get a small bedtime snack. If I'm late, the chickens go to bed themselves & the turkeys are roosting on my back porch rail waiting.

Ralphie...as much as I would love the opportunity to design the perfect space for a turkey tete-a-tete....I was thinking of maybe not hanging around watching them. Do you think they need time to adjust to their new situation and (since they are young) sort of figure things out? So to speak....

I love my SS. I can totally relate. I think they are a fun breed to have. I feel they are a good choice for back yarders. User friendly and eye candy.

No eggs here yet. Thought Daisy would be laying by now. Obviously Annie needs to get through her rough molt. Poor girl.

Was talking to a friend in east Tennessee...her flock isn't laying yet either.

Annie's new tail feathers are about 2-3 inches long now. Her whole neck is still nothing but those pins, but the feathers are starting to break through at the ends. She still has a ton of feathers coming in on her back & chest. She sure looks raggedy. And she's eating like a horse.

I've gone a whole week without any chicken eggs. Not sure why they suddenly went on strike.

It was cool & breezy yesterday. But sunny. Having a turkey hand warmer in your lap sure makes sitting outside tolerable.

Got home from work tired. Just wanted to coop the girls & be a bum. But the whole flock had gathered by the back gate expecting their evening stroll. Just couldn't disappoint them. Lovely evening for a walk. Good time was had by all. Can't say I regretted making the effort.

Ugg...egg eaters. The rollaway boxes are a good idea. I would imagine if they can't get to the egg, over time it would break the habit. Not sure what to do with turkeys. Hope its a fluke too.

Is egg eating a habit that can spread through a flock? Is there a reason hens start that?

Admit it Ralph...you enjoy the SS "helping"! LOL! They can be a bit pesty. Your right, they are the most turkey-ish acting chickens.

I actually have to lock up the SS when I'm working in the garden. I can't dig a hole without the whole crew jumping in. I'll plant something & they'll help by unplanting it. But they are great for hen hugs!
