R2elk....you were warmer than us to day. Crazy. My little Speckled Sussex followed their Turkey moms on our walk. They are so funny. They put their little heads down & just run like the dickens to catch up. Little bums actually jumped the gate to follow us. Not kidding, they are champion foragers! I don't know why they don't explode!

Flashpoint....I feel your pain. Been seeing some of these record breaking temps on the national weather. Ouch! We may get snow flurries. FLURRIES! And that's our leading story on the news this morning.
R2elk....this Walker pup sure doesn't like this cold! Poor baby! Poor BIG 6 month old baby! I will say, he's pretty funny and rather clever. So far so good with the hound!

Ralphie...explain to me why my teenage Speckled Sussex don't explode? All they do is eat! Little foraging machines. Had a hawk fly over the yard today...all the birds headed for cover. At a run. One of the little SS actually managed grab a bite of something while on the run.

Morning all. My German grandma used to make pig tails. I think there was cabbage involved. She'd call dad & he would go over for a dinner of pig tails. I guess it was a treat. We were young & stayed home with mom...who I'm assuming thought it was NOT a treat.

Speaking of "cool"... it's 18 here this morning. Not good for us...

My turkeys...still on their roost...are so puffed up they look like two huge basketballs. My chickens have all piled up in their communal nest box. Why don't my turkeys huddle up for warmth like my chickens? They roost several feet apart. Any thoughts?
