The scene outside the back door. I was late for her evening stroll. Look how annoyed she looks. So not amused.

Ralph...my turkeys are cat aggressive. Not people aggressive, nor dog aggressive...I wish they were squirrel aggressive. I have no explanation for their behavior. I don't excuse their behavior. I feel to love a cat or hate a cat should be an individual choice. They have made their choice and have expressed their hatred on three occasions. I have never seen these cats in my yard, or neighborhood for that matter, after my turkeys expressed their hatred like a couple of Sicilian mafia members. All three incidents required my intervention. All three victims were frozen in place with the most horrid expressions of fear on their whiskered faces. My cat haters worked in complete unison. Advancing on their victims swiftly. Why do some people hate cats? Why do some turkeys hate cats? I consider it yet another mystery of the universe.

We are expecting warmer weather this weekend...finally! My poor birds need a break from these constant below freezing temps. I realize our temps have been nothing compared to most of you. And my birds have been fine. So to be honest...it's ME that needs a break! It's tough for me to spend much time with the girls in 20 or below temps. My double coated Aussies are good to go....my poor short coated coonhound puppy does not appreciate this weather. He's 6 months old now. Growing like a weed. Such a different temperament than I've been used too. Few things that surprised me is how sensitive he is...the other is what a good communicator he can be. It's a good time to be working with this pup since I can't get outside as much as I'd like. I'm liking this pup. For me it's all about the working partnership developed with my dogs. So far this pup has exceeded my expectations. I wasn't expecting him to be as mentally mature at only 6 months. He's already taking off lead commands...sit, down, come, stay....etc. He's quite reasonable. On the down side....He's a thief! He picks up trinkets around the house & stashes them in a pile somewhere. I've heard Walkers can do this....and he sure does. He's also learned to use the lever door handles. First dog I've owned that can let himself in or out of a room.
Enough of my hound dog musings. Looking forward to spending some time with the girls this weekend!!!!
