If/when one of my girls goes broody, I may take you up on the egg offer. They both were so good with those baby Sussex. So good in fact...those little chickens still prefer to hang out with the turkey girls vs the chicken hens.
Speaking of Speckled Sussex....I have to say both of them are super sweet & laid back. And they are starting to get a little reddish/pink in the combs. They may decide to start laying soon. I hope! Everyone should have a few in their flock.

Annie got mugged by a kid! LOL! Annie decided to squat in my driveway at the wrong time. Kid planted himself right next to her hugging & petting. She was good, sort of just froze. Daisy, who was grazing in the lawn, got jealous. She walked in circles around the kid/Annie clump, eyeballing the kid. She finally got her hen hug allowing Annie to escape. Daisy loves kids, Annie...not so much.

Mountain Bourbons....Last year my girls started laying in early December. This year, no eggs yet. Last year we hardly had a winter. This year has been brutal. Other than the weather, nothing is different....same feed, no additional light....etc. Could the weather have something to do with it? I don't know. But my girls just filled out job applications to become long range weather forecasters for the Weather Channel.

Rjohns....just went & checked out your entry. Nice! Now I'm hungry!!
Can't grow lilacs in Memphis. But found several older variety bushes I planted in Missouri. I think the older varieties have better scent than some of the new cultivars. I don't care for the appearance of the bush. So I tucked them along the periphery of my property. Nothing better than cut blooms in the house...but a close second are the lilies of the valley.
