OMGosh, I WANT A SILKIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was dreaming silkies last night as a house chicken, this confirms it. DH will never go for it.

may I can get one for a pet but keep it in the coop? will it be ok to keep with my big girls? I want one badly. it won't affect our egg over supply right?? right right>? now where to find one... hmmmmmmmmmm.

I think I remember reading a post about a crop surgery last week, was that the one that got the mothball? well, either way, bless your heart for doing your best and being such a great chickenmama.

as far as being too attached:

not possible. my husband's always telling me "you have to think of them as livestock, not pets" but when he's around them they avoid him, when I'm around them they run to me, jump up in my lap, cuddle, etc. they know who to get the love from

It's sad to see them go, but it's easy to remember their personality and how many times they made you laugh...
