This is probably a stupid question. My chicks are 12 days old do they need grit and they're just dust bathing in their food so I didn't know if they needed a little dust bath on the side but they might be just too young yet.

If you’re feeding crumbles you shouldn’t need grit. If you start to feed them fruits or veggies then I would offer it. As for the dust bath I don’t think they “need” it. I guess you could if you wanted to. I’ve always used wood shavings as my chick bedding and they dust bathe in that.
 
What kind of veggies and fruit can I give them it's all right that they're 12 days old I'm new at raising baby chicks and they're on crumble feed.And I didn't know I could put wood shavings in in there can I use pine shavings I use for my girls outside I got it from tractor supply I have the fine pine shavings and I have the flakes. I just want to make them happy and comfortable as much as possible.
