trivia Question

Why is he not show quality? Just asking as i am new to this and I am not familiar with this breed.
Showbirds follow the breed descriptions in the Standard of Perfection book of poultry breeds. He has some qualities that aren't perfect for what shows want. He's a little too large. His comb is not quite right and is too large. His feathers are a mix of smooth and silkie feathers. His tail is too long and high, and it has smooth feathers. Crest is too small and flat. Legs should have more feathering, including the middle toes.

He's still a nice looking rooster and would make a great pet, but he's not what they are looking for at poultry competitions.

Hatchery quality Silkie. Or maybe Silkie cross if it came from a backyard breeder.
I got 8 chicks from tractor supply that were 98% guaranteed to be hens, I got 3 roosters and this one was one of them and tractor supply told me he was not a sikie because of his comb and color of his feet so I guess they do not know what they are talking about, thanks for your information. P.S. My husband thinks he is so incredibly beautiful and told me I should enter him in the fair, thank god i didn't I would have been the laughing stock of the rooster community.

He should look more like this:

Ok, the picture won't load... Look at this link: https://www.littlepatchofweeds.com/silkie-chickens.html

They have several photos of well bred silkies on that page.

Yes, but “bad” just kinda sounds rude that is why we say “Hatchery” nonetheless let’s just get along :D
He's clearly a better silkie than the people at tractor supply are used to, to my knowledge black / dark grey legs and a walnut comb are par for the course with silkies and they are trying to say he's not based on those features.
