Trooper, the single hatchling

I know how hard it is keeping chicks with dogs around, I lost one of my favorites to a shih Tzu

I love the collage you did with Trooper and his parents

I love being a bit creative that way

As for keeping chickens and my Jack Russells... It is very hard... I've lost so many chickens but I love my dogs just as much as my chickens so the key words are: fencing, fencing, fencing!!!

And here he is today at 10 days old... Becoming a big boy (or girl) now... And still throwing a big tantrum every time I try to move him to a larger brooder... I built my incubator so I can take out the fan, water holder and egg rack so it can function as a brooder for 3 - 4 days. Well... Here we are at day 10 and dear little Trooper refuses to move out!

I didn't take any pictures yesterday, as I was so busy tending to a litter of 4-week-old pups, finishing the new chicken coop and moving all the chickens around that I forgot all about this project of mine!

Here is Trooper today at 13 days old though...

Here is a back view, you can see some slight tailfeathers starting to push through as well as some back feathers at the top of the wings
