I normally swap out water and clean my waterers with a rag and vinager a couple times a week. However, I bought a 7.5 gallon imperial tri-pod waterer for when I was out of town. I love the concept...but I was not thinking very far ahead. The openings are too small for me to stick my hand in to sipe away the grossness on in inside. Does anyone have one or a waterer with a teeny opening? How do you properly sanitize the inside?

That's a neat waterer, never seen that one before.
I wouldn't think it would get too gross inside...they can't poop in it.

I use a jug with horizontal nipples and don't worry about sanitizing it....
.....chickens will drink out of filthy puddles in the run with no harm done.
I just rinse it out once every few months because of the iron that accumulates in there.

Thank you, I just notice the water starts to smell in less than a week and there is a slime coating in the areas that I can reach on the inside of the waterer. I was thinking about a small scrubbie on a wire...but it will be very time consuming so I will probably only use it when I go out of town.

It really is a great waterer though!

Looks like it is new product, I'd contact premier and ask what they suggest.....
.....and let them know of this design flaw, opening at top needs to be bigger.

A large bottle brush with a metal handle that could be bent might work.

Thank you. I will do that. My thought was the brush too. I was just wondering if there was a different way :)

I was going to get that one and this thread help me not to. I was wondering the same thing... the slime! how do I clean the slime with such a small hole! Thanks! Won't be getting it. Other options out there that are much easier to clean!

I know this is a late (years late) response.... Planning on purchasing the Imperial Trip-Pod Waterer. My plan is to use a carboy (wine making jug) drill attached cleaner.
