As a northern person I believe the correct spelling is
Y'all

As an eastern and used-to-be-southern person, I believe it is spelt y'all.

Y'all is the popular incorrect spelling. Ya'll is correct but usually not used. Really!!

Google told me:
In contractions, apostrophes represent where letters were taken out. "Y'all" is a contraction of "you all". the "ou " was taken out, so you put an apostrophe were it used to be, giving you "y'all". Y'all is a contraction of "you all", so I would assume that y'all is the correct spelling.Sep 21, 2010
