I've tried that. My mom is almost willing to do it. (Less money) but my sister insists that they need layer.

Chickens definitely don't need layer. I actually switched from layer to grower feed so my roosters wouldn't have an overdose of calcium. Now I just feed oyster shell on the side for the hens.

I know they don't need, I've been trying to find an all flock but no such luck. She just thinks it'll make them lay better. :rolleyes:
