If you're looking at the cuckoo marans for dark eggs then I wouldn't count on it, I've had those, they all laid a orangish color but not dark. I've talked to people who had them too and heard the same thing, its the Black Copper Marans that lay the really dark ones.

Ah. Then go ahead I just didn't want you to be disappointed. My brother in laws parents had red sex links and their eggs were darker than my cuckoos.
