I'm pretty sure it is. And it's dominant; so one parent must be crested for a duckling to have a crest. Size of crest doesn't matter. But I don't know how it started. :hu


Yep. But it doesn't always show, they can have the gene but not express it.

Recessive. I love thoss recessive genes- it makes everything a challenge! :lau
 
OK I'm gonna donate my 2 cents to the whole crested conversation.

From the little I know about it, I think its either a missing gene, or a mutated gene that is a result of inbreeding.

See, I don't know tons :P
