He was my beloved pet peachick who lived inside our house; I raised him from Day 1. He sat on the back of our chairs; followed me everywhere; learned how to peck out a song on a child's piano; was in our local newspaper....
He contracted either gapeworm or Aspergillosis.We treated him for months, months turning into a year...
I don't know what happened exactly. One night we came home late, so we had to medicate him at 12 AM....
He asphyxiated in the process. He spun in flapping circles, making this eerie screaming honk for like ten minutes, and then began convulsing uncontrollably for another 10 or so, screaming and writhing all the time. He died flat out on the floor, his eyes open and jaw broken from trying to breathe.![]()
