I have tried hard to raise white silkies.Started with 1 roo and 2 hens. a cochin duck killed 1 roo .I bouhght another on 2 different occasions and a neighbor dog or a critter killed them. I don't know why the roos were picked out unless tey erer defending their girls. I am now searching for another and will pen them in an enclosed tractor that I have built . Having a hard time finding one within driving distance.BTW one bearded silkie is laying again but is probly bred to plymouyh rock . any help? THANKS 276 475 5972

Talking with some other people breeding silkies they have problems with silkie roosters and are always losing them.
I have one and he's really mellow, maybe because they don't attack (or aren't as willing to) predators see them as easy meals. Thankfully one of my standard mutts would rather protect the silkie rooster then his standard hens, while the other standard mutt cares for all the hens.
