chicken that lays black eggs? My sister claims a friend of hers has such a bird. No other info.
No chicken lays black eggs. Any pics claiming to show such are photo-shopped. However, Ayam Cemanis is all black; even the inside of the mouth (but they lay cream colored eggs, not black).
I meant to say Ayam Cemani (no s on the end). Sorry for the typo. )
Or svart honas/Swedish black hens. But no black eggs.
X2 on that. )
Pretty much what I thought but shes my big sis and I always believe her(NOT really) ty.Will look up breeds mentioned.
Looked up Ayem Cemani and pics of black eggs claiming they belonged to these birds came up.And I know not all on the internet is true but...
Those are proably duck eggs. Cayugas maybe.
the breeding sites say cream colored eggs. Just wonder why this "friend" claims her black hen lays black eggs. When will I learn.
Agreed. Black Cayuga duck eggs are striking to look at. ) The darkest eggs in the chicken world are the chocolate eggs (very dark brown) laid by breeds such as Marans, Welsummers, Barnevelders, Penedescencas, or Empordanesas.
