Trying to litter box train a 7 month old outdoor cat

Neymar pooped and peed last night in the litter box. She still rather go outside if we let her but she still went in the box!

Is it even possible to train a cat? My experience with cats is that we do not train them to use a litter box they train us to clean it daily.

Since she is used to going in mulch I added some mulch on top of the litter and she got more interested in it and used it
