TSC Asian black pullets

Got these 2 babies to add to my flock. They are now ~2 weeks old.

Ive read a ton of anecdotal posts on this “breed” as well as mislabeled bins at tsc. Just curious if these girls look like they are actually asian blacks. Ive seen several posts here where people have ended up with barred rocks instead. Thanks

I'm pretty sure those are barred rocks......... Maybe not... just wait till their wing feathers are coming in. Then we can talk more.

I can say that they are definitely not Barred Rocks. They would have a head spot and barred feathers in the wings. Likely what you wanted. Always possibility of them being Jersey Giants though, but I'm doubtful

I'm agreeing with you, I only raise silkies and i just started barred rocks.

These look just like our Asian Blacks from TSC. Here they are as chicks and now. Our flock is half Asians and half Production Reds.

Are all of the asians pullets? My wife is getting concerned that one of ours is a cockerel.

I have no idea yet! Seems all the other breed hints don’t apply to this type of chicken. Read the article featured on the main page about roosters. Very informative!

I think TSC gets a bad rap, while they do sell mislabeled chicks a lot, we purchased 9 total chicks this year, 1 of the 4 from TSC was not a female as advertised, but all of the chicks from TSC were healthy and in good body condition. We got 2 from another feed store, there were multipul dead ones. We got 2 from a chick mill who were skinny and lethargic, so I think it really just depends on the TSC. Were there any dead chicks at TSC, and how were their body conditions? Also check to see if Hoover's hatchery sells chicks.

All looked healthy from what i saw. No dead chicks. The 2 i brought home have been healthy and happy. Im just concerned ab the sexing accuracy based on the anecdotal stories ive read here and other forums bc i cant have roos. I also bought them bc i thought they were black sex links but that was my ignorance, not their fault.

Yeah, it sucks when you get a little boy instead of a girl, but then you get really excited and start dreaming about what his chicks will look like.
