TSC gave wrong chick- I was given a Leghorn and I have concerns

I also got a Leghorn instead of an Easter Egger last year, and I didn't know any better for quite awhile. When I figured it out, I was disappointed, but it was too late to start over. Now, she's my absolute favorite hen! She's mostly quiet, has so much personality, and has only missed 3 days of laying in the past year! That's her in my avatar. :D

I hope your Leghorn works out as well for you!

Well I knew what the ones I wanted looked like, but they barely had any of the ones I wanted. The eggers were my requirement so I got 2 and we’ve nicknamed them Cheep and Dayle. 😂 both other breeds I had to pick on the fly to get my 4 and the sexlink I could kind of tell but the Wyandotte I didn’t know. And I even asked if he was sure cause it didn’t seem right for a light yellow chick to make a dark bird. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m hoping for the best LOL. I just have to spend 2x as much time with her I guess.

If you're worried about noise then you may end up getting rid of your easter eggers instead. My 2 easter eggers are the loudest chickens I have. They literally roar like dinosaurs. I've named the loudest one karen. Shes such a complainer.
I think I saw your post about that before 😂 did you say you tell her you’ll get her your manager? I cackled 🤣. I hope no one complains because everyone’s dogs are outside barking... so I have chickens instead 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yep, that's her. Shes such a complainer. And it's not chicken noises. It's like a chicken roar.

X2! My Easter egger mix is the loudest in my flock. She comes and screams at my door anytime she wants anything. Lots of people here on BYC can agree EE's are loud as hell, as well. 😂

My Wyandotte chick was "stripey", she had what I refer to as " racing stripes ", fairly dark ones, as a click.
But my light Brahma looked completely golden...though larger in size.
You may not have a Wyandotte, but what if it's not a Leghorn, either?
You might be in for a wonderful surprise😁!

My Sister like to say "shut it Windy". :gig

They would NOT toss the chick in the trash.. that's against the law and considered animal cruelty.. in many states.

Most likely options according to my understanding and experience would be.. 1) a simple apology. 2) A refund and you keep the bird. 3) Apology, no refund.. offer a Wyandotte IF available and you keep that one also.

Over all, I would at least have a discussion with them to let them know what happened.. Think about what your desired outcome might be and have suggestions ready how it might be improved in the future.

I hope I see an update to what she actually is other than a fun mystery.. time to start thinking of names.. since you're gonna see how she does.. I'm super excited for you both! :yesss:

ETA: Wyandotte are available in white,, they're just not as common or popular as other varieties.

I guess I'll find out soon enough. They had the leghorns with the Wyandotte's (per their little sticker labels) so that's why I assume... but they could be wrong.

The TSC had 2 types in each cube, and the other chicks with the yellow ones looked like what I would expect a Wyandotte to look like. I'll probably ask them what they can do for me and take a Wyandotte if they still have some.
