Yes, I have a silkie with an extra digit on her wrist. This happens with birds with polydactly sometimes. I just can't remember what it's called exactly.

I've heard of cats and very rarely dogs having polydactyly but never a bird! I didn't know it was possible.

It's a common mutation in silkies, Faverolles, Sultans, & Dorkings.

What mine has is a jointed appendage with feathers growing out of it, like a hand off the bend of the wing

I would guess those are big boy feathers coming in. I wouldn’t worry to much about that. He’s at that awkward gangly age. But we’ll see if anyone else chimes in. I think he’s just beautiful!

Well he is huge for his age, he is only three 1/2 months old

So the silkie my wife bought is a cross, think it is a Mystic Onyx and is not a pullet but a rooster and he has these weird appendages protruding from his elbow, is this normal for this cross or what is it or is he just a freakView attachment 2827274View attachment 2827277

That’s funny, it must be something about this cross as I saw someone else with one of these chicks today and it had the same silly looking Trex arm like feathers it grew up to be quite pretty and the funny feathers went away!
