TSC sold me different Breeds????? FYI cuteness overload

TSC probably wouldn't put cornish crosses in with egg layers because they know people wouldn't want to accidentally get meatbirds. Also cornish crosses look way bigger way fast, even at TSC. My TSC did have a mix of red layers--they tell you what they can be on the signs usually.

What a sweet dog! I have a boxer (Male) that loves to nurture little things (he loved to clean and lay with our little just born kitten)- but my other two dogs I wouldn't trust for a second around the chicks.

Are Red sex links a good egg producer? And what type of egg? How big do they get?

Everything I've read about them says they're very good layers. They're a larger chicken that lays brown eggs, from what I've read.

Agreed, and my red sex links are two of my favorite and friendliest. My actual RIR is my least friendly chick. They are supposed to be super layers.

I, too, bought from TSC. I got 12 "Red Pullets". Was told the eggs will be large to exlg. Mine definitely do not look the same. Don't know chicks but it sounds like the same generic labeled chicks. Mine are a dark brown with darker brown stripes down the back and they feathers are coming in a very dark brown.

I got Australorps, Red Sex Link and Brown Leghorn from TSC and the Red Sex Links are the friendly ones. They allow me to pet them and are very curious and come up to me ... peck at my shoestrings, etc. I like them a lot.

My chicks look just like yours. They were "red" and "yellow" pullets. I have one that is huge and has a ton of feathers already, my two other "red" are just now starting to get a couple dark feathers on their necks, and my "yellow" are turning white. I wish I knew for sure what they were.. The guy I asked yesterday said they could be RIR but he isn't sure, and the yellow could be Leghorns, but he didn't know that either. I wish I knew what these birds are!

Thanks for the information, I don't care what breed they are as long as they are egg layers. My last 3 hens became Hawk bait. My Giant Rooster is still around and he gets along with the peeps just fine. The peeps keep pecking at his eyes, but he just takes it. Big Betty is a strange Rooster, very calm and submissive. I have a pic of Big Betty trying to get the peanuts and also some new pics of the peeps with Betty. I just have to wait to post, since my Mac is so old it does not have Bluetooth.


Does anybody know what breed is Big Betty??
