Tufted buff geese

Thanks for the information. The flock pictured is were my little guy came from. So if they are tufted buffs so is my guy.
Where the tuft is? I got no idea.
Watched a you tube video that had a young lady describing and illustrating how to vent sex a goose. Based on that information I attempted to check my guy out. With only 1 goose I can't compare 1 to the other but I believe I have a goose.
We are prabably headed down to the breeder today to get another goslin. I had to seperate the chicks and goslin this morning. I noticed some of the chicks missing a few feathers and I caught the goslin in the act of pulling them out. She is a real unhappy girl by herself.

Geese do better as a pair or more. they are social animals and are only happy with other waterfowl preferably their own kind.

Your lil gosling should get a tuft then if he came from those. The only thing i can think of is maybe some where in their back ground they might have regular Buffs and your gosling is a throw back and inherited a smooth head, but time will tell. Either way tufted or not he is a buff and buffs are hard to find.
Vent sexing is hard for first timers and especially with nothing to compare. I have tried it with my older geese that i know are male and female. I was only able to tell about half as being male or female.

My wife has researched the tufted buff breed and she said they were developed in the early 1990s. I mentioned this morning that the partyicular bloodline of tufted buff our guys belong to, may have only recently been developed, so throw backs were a possibility. We did get another goslin this morning. They paired up very quickly, with no problem at all.
