TULSA area Cluckers

Bluerosebirds, are your frizzles pullets? We bought a frizzle at the Coweta auction and even though we looked at all the birds before the auction and had a plan in place of what we were buying we somehow missed the only frizzle there so when it came up for sale we bought it. As soon as the auction was over and I saw it I knew immediately it was a boy. Waaaah! He was just 3-4 weeks old and he's the sweetest and funniest little guy. Unfortunately we won't be able to keep him living in town. I really need to find him a home, which will break my kids hearts since they all really like him. I'd like to have a pullet cochin frizzle.

I can't have roos either. Ours are 1-2 months old. Difficult to sex at this age. We have black,
grey and buff/red. I think I can tell a couple are roos. Their combs are coming in. And your're right .....they are the cutest and funniest birds I've ever seen.

You are welcome to check them out if you like. I'm going to try to send you a private message.
Please let me know if it works. You might try sending me one also - then all I have to do is reply which is much easier on my addled brain.

I think I'm gonna stay away from regular auctions for awhile. Anyone know what date they are doing the poultry auction at the Tulsa fair? They have to be healthy to be shown at the fair, so I think the odds of getting some nice birds there is pretty good.

Rinda,

Just wanted to let you know that the two I got from you are not showing any signs yet of respitory issues. No sneezing or eye gunk. What else should I look for, or is that it?

The main thing I noticed was runny nose and a watery eye at first, then it progresses into swollen sinus (under the eye) and then around the eye starts to swell. The ones I treated with antibiotic eye drops/cream did fully recover although that would probably make them carriers. They were the ones the dog killed two weeks ago just after you came and got yours. The drops and cream I had were leftover from one of the kids having pinkeye or something like that. Again really sorry I hope you don't have it...

Ifthey do have it, I'll put them down. Don't worry, the same thing could have happened to anyone. I can't wait to buy some more chicks from you guys in the spring. Also, I might have to come get some more honey from you guys soon, that stuff went way quicker than I thought! The girls all started acting like they had sore throats so they could have more. It took me three days to catch on to the fact that they were playing me.

Rinda, I need some more honey as well. I'm completely out.

This is a photo of one of our Red/Buff frizzles. About 2 months old.
Jen, Sorry for the delay. I noticed our mother hen frizzle has a small comb and small wattles. I don't have an adult roo to compare but among the chicks
2 of the red/buffs have a much more defined comb.
