Tuna!

We feed them leftover lobster bodies whenever we have any. Ours eat salamanders, slugs, and tadpoles from the little watering hole next to our property.

Everyone loves our eggs.

So, I made fish today. Whole trout. I have the leftover heads and bones and skin. I ground it all up in the food processor and stuck it in the fridge. Tomorrow, I plan to give it to the girls. That's okay, right?

Once a week, I mix a can of tuna with cooked ramen noodles and my silkies go into a feeding frenzy that would scare sharks away. The tuna is a great, non stinky, high protein food that substitutes for meat in a wild chicken's diet. The noodles (broken up before cooking) remind them of worms and they play keep away with them. Way better than computer games!!!!

This is so funny! Now I can't wait to start giving my chickens Ramen noodles. I didn't realize chickens were such good little garbage disposals.

Don't make the ramen noodles with the flavor packet! It's Waaay too much salt and no telling what kind of chemical additives. So I throw the packet away, then crunch up the dry noodles in the wrapper, microwave them in some water until soft and there you have it: Instant Worms!

Also, I get canned mackerel at the Family Dollar Store for about $1 per can. I alternate weeks, one with tuna, the next with mackerel. When they run tuna on sale 2/$1.00 I stock up.

Sometimes I get creative and make cornbread with a can of drained mixed veggies cooked in it. That's always a hit.

Mine love tuna as well and I give it to them occasionally for a protein boost (water packed). I did read somewhere on here that it should be limited because of mercury content.

I wont cook for my chicks..but when the blueberries were too mushy for us to eat...they went NUTTY over blueberries...

it is hilarious to watch them play rugby over one blueberry when there is like 15 in a bowl!!!!
