I think what I would do is remove the shelves and lay it down flat - if you have some extra hardware cloth you could flatten it out and use as a lid for the temporary brooder. That's what we did at first when the chicks started flying out of our tupperware storage bin. That's a cute coop you are building by the way!

Well,my chicks are almost feathered ,they need to get out of the brooder !ive been putting a screen on top and that has worked.We actually bought what we're using as a coop from someone who was raising dogs..we've got to get the roosts up in the coop and I guess nest boxes are not a priority yet but the run needs to get done and I need hard cloth for it .how many chicks do you have
