Turken Naken Necks (EW!)

All of the Turken Naked Necks I've seen are ugly! Who else thinks this way? Why were they bred with no feathers on their necks? I think I heard because their easier to pluck that way... But just WHY? They are so ugly. If you care to object, please do so, but I feel like a lot of people will agree with me on this one. Even Showgirl chickens don't look good, contrary to their name.

I agree with that. I think its cruel too if they get stuck in cold rain then it will make them cold and possibly die.

That's the same with any chicken. But chickens don't tend to stand out in the rain and let themselves get soaked.

There neck don't have feathers. So there not water proof like others would be. Most chickens do stand in the rain and let themselves get soaked.

Our new chickens do, they don't really get how hard it is to preen wet feathers yet. Our older ones get it. Their just setting in the coop, going "Yup, that's what they get."

My barred rocks just don't care if its raining or storming. The only thing they hate is snow which is rare.

I personally don't mind Naked Necks- the only thing that bothers me is that the cutt off of the feathers on their heads looks weird. I prefer Showgirls because they have poofs instead of feathers there.
