I just get my first turkens yesterday at the livestock auction!

I'm new to this. Why are they called "Turkens"? Is it due to their appearance?

I adopted her this month...she'd been rescued from a Maine farm animal hoarder in Dec. You can see that she's missing the ends of all her toes, due to them freezing onto a metal roost. (It makes me ill to think about it.) I might name her Wisteria, but I adopted 16 this month and I'm trying to figure out their personalities.

They are called turkens because they are indeed a chicken but have featherless necks just like turkeys!
