Turkey Coop Build

Do you have a watering system? I just fill a 5 gallon bucket and they always have water. I only use bottles in cages with babies.
I use crocks that I fill with a watering can from either my rain barrel or our stock tank. I tried bottles and no one would drink from them, so I switched to crocks which worked fairly well over last winter being topped off with hot water from the house using the watering can.

Of course I only had 8 last winter, so I have doubled my work load. We are building an addition onto my big shed for my rabbits to keep them all in one place which will make things even easier. I think I'm done breeding for now. I get too attached to sell them, and these are enough for now.

In the winter i use water warmers i make, and the water goes in a metal bowl. Much more time consuming that way.

We are Zone 7a, it is not too bad here in winter. A water warmer is a contraption i make out of scrap wood in a square and inside goes a heating device like a wax melter or a mini crock pot i pick up cheap at Goodwill. I put a metal dish in the top part. My rabbits have slightly warm water all winter. I will try to post pictures tomorrow.

I'm going to follow your progress. These are my feathered children. I'm keeping all of them I think. I know it's odd to some people but none will be killed. I just can't. We're soooooo attached. All nine of us. But I will need to make permanent outdoor runs for them so I'm interested in your adventure here. Good luck and can't wait to learn some new things from you!

Ironically, aside from my love for turkeys- I'm a Capricorn so I love your screen name.
