Turkey Disease

I have 2 Bourbon Turkeys that are having the same problem. I'd really love to find out what this is. From my research I'm finding that this looks nothing like Pox, other than they have sores. I'm wondering if I should cull them, but I really hate to since they are still eating and drinking.

It does seem to bother them some since one of them has several spots on his wing joint also and he keeps pulling at the feathers there.

Here are my pictures taken a few days ago

Many Thanks

I'm bumping this again since it has been hours ago that M_M posted. I really do hope someone knowledgeable will answer as I have turkeys too but no problems. Just want to be educated and prepared. That is why I subscribed to this thread.

I have not seen anything like these. To answer posts about Fowl Pox, the dry form does not often kill unless they were weak or young or it develops into the wet form. Dry form is similar to Chicken Pox in people. Wet form will require meds.

I would post these pics on the emergency section. They look pretty bad.

Thank you. They have actually gotten worse since then. I still have them on the Terramycin Water Solution and started using Bactracin which I had from a staff infection I got some time back. Hopefully it will help

FYI... I did post these on the Emergency area yesterday. There have been not a single reply from that area. Thanks Again

Just keep this in mind, maybe fowl pox wont kill or some think, but secondary infections can and will finish off were the fowl pox couldn't.. when birds are stressed that is when other problems arise.. most don't realize this till its to late.

trust me, heard enough cases on secondary infections over the years

Judging from the pictures and the way it sounds it looks like the areas on the turkey are places the mosquito's would have bitten, exposed skin area's

The secondary infection risk is the reason for the Terramycin Water. I also will be starting them today on a mixture of Karanja and Neem Oils 2-3 times a day along with the antibiotic rub.

I sell these oils and it finally dawned on me

that I ought to be using them as they have worked quite well on other problem areas in the past.

Thanks again all
