My question is, do they lay daily, every other day or how often, I know that if I leave the eggs in the nest that they should start to brood the eggs after they have gotten their clutch. But I am wanting to incubate a couple of batches of eggs in the incubators 1st. i don't know a lot about turkeys and their laying behaviors. These are standard bronze.

They are seasonal layers and my BR lays daily until she gets her clutch. She starts in March and continues until about July-Aug. The tom began displaying for at least a month and this crazy warm weather probably has something to do with it. I am going to take a few of her eggs from her clutch this year to incubate and I think she will keep laying until she gets the amount she wants to sit. At least, that's what I'm hoping will happen.

I have a standard bronze and she started laying the 2nd week in Jan. She lays almost everyday but will skip a day here and there. I also have Narragansetts hens and they do the same. I just got through incubating my first batch and 2 out of 4 hatched. Just put 10 eggs in the bator and now we will wait and see. Before I would I incubate I would let them lay for a least a week(if they just started laying for the first time) to let the eggs be the right size. The first few eggs for new layers won't be the size of a turkey egg. After a week go for it! Good luck.

Thank you for the help. I did check the egg I got, and it was fertile, made some good brownies with it. Those turkey girls sure a crafty with their nest building and hiding.

1st thing to know about turkeys, they love to hide there nests.an if you have them running loose you wont find there nests till they start sitting if your lucky.the hens lay everyday to every other day.an they will lay a clutch of 10 to 12 or more.an once thats done the hen will start brooding the pretty quick.when i had turkeys some would try to hatch eggs 2 or 3 times a year.

I have been on an easter egg like hunt trying to find turkey eggs since the weekend. Over the weekend I put a big dog carrier with hay in it out in the turkey area behind some rolls of fencing, the girls seem to think that this is a good place to lay.
So on saving turkey eggs to put in the incubator.... I need to save them for about 10 days before they are set ? Put them on an egg turner and will collect all that they lay for the next 10 days if that is the right amount of days to save them.
