Ok..
In Feb... I was not sure if my turkeys were gonna have babies so I orderd 15 Eastern Wild Turkey Chicks.. They were set to arrive in April.. and I left it at that.... Then, in feb, shortly after I placed my order... My bourbon Red started laying eggs... Her mate is an Easter Wild Turkey male. so I started incubating the eggs... They hatched and were a nice dark red chick turkeys... very easy to tell apart from wild turkeys... Then... towards the end march... My white broad breasted Turkey hen started laying too... and I figured they would not be fertile since she's a HEFTY lady!!! but to my suprise.. they were... I got about 10 chicks hatch from her...
The White X Wild chicks hatched about 1 week after the Easter Wild Turkeys arrived... I figured that I would be able to tell them apart by color seeing as How it was SUPER easy for me to tell apart the wild from the Burbon Wild REds I produced...
Now I come to find that IM having a HARD time telling apart which are Pure Wild, and which are Wild White Crosses...
Please let me know what to look for... I can post pictures of any part of there body.. wings, back, legs, face... what ever you need.. Just let me know.. and I will take pictures tonight and post them... Im trying to find out who's for thanksgiving and who's for breeding.. There are only few Larger dark chicks.. like 4... those I know to be pure wild because I know there not the red crosses... but I still dont want to take any chances...
Yes, I learned my lesson on not tagging... i made the simple mistake of thinking it would be easy to identify as with the Wild Reds.
Edit..
One more thing.. I sold all my Wild Reds, as I call them, and only kept two... so If you need there pics... I can provide... I did my best to sex them... but who knows if Im right. I had to keep a pair of Wild reds to breed back to a single red chick i ordered, and not knowing if its a male or female... thats why I kept a pair of wild red chicks...
