I have a bunch already. Plus I hunt so I have turkey calls that I use too lol They hate the decoys lol

Thanks so much. I'm so excited to have these guys. I hope at least 1 or 2 turn out to be hens.
I hope so too! :D

I found it really hard determining gender between my two wild turkeys. I went from thinking 1 girl and 1 boy to both boys and then back again, and they actually turned out to be both girls. I then went out and bought a pair (tom & hen) and it's much easier now :D

I'm hoping to eventually pick up a couple from another breeder as well. :) Two of my four poults have darker coloring than the others, and one is markedly smaller than the rest, so I'm hopeful that I have both genders. :)

It is hard to determine gender. I got 2 black spanish and 2 narragansett in june I picked and sorted thru at my best guess of tom and hen and the black spanish yes a tom and hen the narragansett my fav whom I wanted to breed,,,, 2 toms

And once I had money they were out of narragansetts so I got a tri color palm hen... Yes she is a mutt but tri color palm sounds more elegant

That's funny. I only wanted 1 turkey in the beginning. A tom. The breeder and I picked out the biggest one, with the largest snood. Later that day I picked out another one, because you can't just have one turkey.. I just picked the cutest one (she had a precious face) and both turned out to be hens! I ended up searching everywhere for a tom, and bought a pair of palms :D So glad I finally have my boy!

I want more hens so the toms have plenty to focus on this spring so I can have some hatch. I want to let my black brood if she is willing. I am going to look for me a narragansett hen for my 2 boys.

Does anyone know when they start to lay? :) I have no idea

Should I expect laying this spring?

They are typically seasonal layers although we had a turkey growing up and I have heard others talk abou this, some lay fall and spring.
