Congrats!

This will be my third year with poultry and yet last year after raising up so many turkey I never got a egg. This year so far I have 3 hens that have started laying so far still waiting on the others. So very exciting! I have my bator so full that I can't squeeze another one in there. lol

My husband thought I would start incubating the turkey eggs right away, told him I thought they needed to be a bit bigger, its the size of a large chicken egg... Both bators are occupied so I will see if this one is fertile and if so I'll start saving them in another couple weeks.. Right??

You can even leave them out there for your hen. She will lay a large clutch of eggs then if she goes broody she will hatch them for you. My Bourbon Red turkey eggs look to be the same size as yours. I check mine at 10 days to see if there is any veining if not I can toss them but most all of mine are developing great! In fact one of my hens had collected 11 eggs and I took them from her the other day as it was going to freeze and I did not want the eggs to be ruined.

I want to hatch some and sell, I also want to sell some of the fertile eggs.. will they lay all summer or do they lay just a certain amount?

Turkey lay according to your seasons in your area I believe it is spring to fall. They may slow down like hens in the heat of the summer also.

Lets hope! I want them to raise a brood but closer to June or so

We sacrificed the first egg to see if it was fertile...YES!!!! Bullseye!! All others will be saved and added to the bator next weekend....

Awesome! Make sure you fry up the egg. Turkey eggs are tasty!

That's great AmericanMom I am trying to get my bator so I will have a small hatch a week thru the first of March.
