Turkey Talk for 2014

Quote: You area abosolutely right-- I didn't try to explain it as well . . .most people dont't get it.

I did hear a comotion one day and ran to the window to see the turkeys had jumped the 6 foot fence into the dog pen. I thru up the window, hollared a command to the dogs. THey stopped chasing the birds and waited as instructed. BUt the look on ANgies face was, oh come on mom, I just gotta have one!! I decided right then I could not risk running to the front door and around the house. I went head first out the window, reaized I would land on my head, pulled myslef back into the house, and went feet first and jumped the 6 feet. Neither dog had moved an inch, and all the birds were out by the time I hit the ground. Not like they don't have 14 acres elsewhere to be!! Sheesh!

Yup a dog is a dog!! And people are people. So I keep my dogs penned to save them from stupid people.

I came into a new incubator back in October and I have been dying to try it out! I got ahold of some eggs (duck, goose and Turkey) and set them earlier last week...fingers crossed they hatch. Since I have a bigger incubator I decided I needed a bigger brooder...I picked up this wooden crate at work and frankensteined parts of my old metal brooder to make this.I cant wait to see how it works in a few weeks..And as always Ellie hamming it up in the yard.

Good luck with your new bator I hope it works for you and that is a nice brooder you fixed up.
Ellie is very pretty

The red in her feathers is gorgeous!

About turkeys and plants, I've just been given 8 bourbon reds, which I've placed in the fenced orchard. While I'm not worried about the mature fruit trees, should I worry about them eating the blueberries, strawberries, rhubarb, and grapes? (None of which are anywhere close to fruiting right now) Thanks!
