Wouldn't a self blue be all blue?

Definitely not a self blue, but possibly a self blue palm.

I thought the Royal Palm part was obvious... Since it wasn't solid and she was standing by a RP. I thought you were asking if it was a lavender Palm or a slate Palm. Sorry about that!

Anybody here from Michigan want to go halfies on an order from Porters? Anybody have self blue or lavender hatching eggs for sale?

I have a slate tom over slate & palm hens. They will throw black, blue slate, lavender (self blue), black mottled & blue mottled. The mottleds bred back to each other or a palm will produce blue & lavender palms.

Is this a blue or lavender Palm?

Always hard to tell from a pic, but try the Porter's link. The lavenders are very pale, almost silvery and the blues are darker with occasional very dark flecks & splashes.

I need some RP hatching eggs to make my sweet boy , Oreo, a 2nd lady for next year. I have him with a Lavender hen now, & 8 of their eggs in the bator, but would love to have a RP hen to breed him with also! My hen ignores him most of the time, & it seems like he's wanting more than she's willing to offer. Worries me that when he's older, he will take what he wants and hurt her. :/

They are Royal Palms...well the tom is and the hen is either a blue or a lavender palm...I just didn't know which.

I have my mill mix mine so all of my birds can eat it. It's a layer mash & grain mix that comes out to be 18-19% protien.

I ferment too, weather permitting.

Sorry I was confused by the terminology.
I thought "self" means a solid colored bird of one color.

I mix 20% protein lay pellets with scratch and then ferment it..  plus mine are free ranging and nibbling on weeds and bugs... so not sure what it works out to be..

Mine were free range until started to lay eggs. I had to pen them in my big flight pen to find the eggs easier. We live on 85 acres with woods right behind the house and poultry pens, impossible to find hidden nest.
I've had them on flock raiser since they were 4 mo old. I believe it's 20% protein. They get scratch, meal worms and dog/cat food as treats along with kitchen scraps and old bread. In the summer they will get a lot from our garden. They have grown out well on the flock raiser
