I have 4 broody turkey hens at the moment, with who knows how many eggs under them.

LUCKY! My BR hen just will NOT get broody. So I have taken her eggs and put them in the bator. Well ALL of them are fertile (15) SHe's still laying. But I don't have space for anymore. I really hope she gets broody soon,

I don't feel lucky lol. Im not like most, I dislike broodies. Its more of a pain for me than anything

If she doesn't get broody by the end of the week think I will. By the way. How much do you sell your turkeys for.? Because I want to sell a bunch of the turkeys that hatch out of the bator. They will be all pure bred BR's, and I will be selling them at about 3 months of age. what do you think would be a fair price to sell them?

For me personally and specific to my area that I live in, I would sell 3 month old pure breed Bourbon Reds for about $25 each. Heritage poults go for roughly $10-12 as day olds and then figure in an extra $1 per week to raise each poult.

Heritage turkeys are hard to get where I am so I sell poults for $15 each at hatch. You may not be able to get that much from them in your area. I could sell a 3 month old for $25 easily. Good breeders easily go for $50-75 each.

I live in NJ and I usually only see standard bronze. but NEVER BR'S. so Heritage turkeys aren't too common where I live either. So I think I'll be selling them at 30 bucks a piece with the info you all gave me. I will be selling them at a fair, And ALL the animals there are sold at top price. Rare, not rare, healthy, not healthy, pure bred, or not. And they all get sold by the end of the week. So I'm hopeful that people will buy my healthy purebred BR poults.

That looks just like my pile of broodys. I also have no idea how many eggs are under there. Should be interesting. Will the hens share in raising the poults also?

It is my experience that communal nests of turkeys are not a good thing. Everything may seem to be going well right up until the hatch starts. All too often the newly hatched poults get stomped on by too many feet in their immediate area especially when the squabbling starts. Some hens will very gladly accept any poults while others will intentionally kill any poult that she does not consider her own.

If it was me, I would make more nesting areas and seed each nest with eggs or dummy eggs. Then I would remove all but one of the hens from the communal nest and if necessary put a temporary fence around it to discourage the other hens from attempting to return to the communal nest.

Thank you for your feedback on having multiple broody hens share a nest. I am not fond of the idea and don't encourage broodies, Id prefer to incubate and raise the young myself but these 4 turkey hens had other plans(I also have 4 broody chickens right now, not all on the same nest though).

I have been racking my brain with how to situate these hens for the best out come and have yet to think of much. My coop doesn't allow for another inside nest because of space. I have provided another nest outside the coop in the run but they don't use it. I am thinking about moving the Toms to my grow out pen soon so they don't interfere with the poults(if any hatch). But I still have yet to come up with a plan for the hens.

I wonder if It might work better if I move 2 broodies to the grow out pen with eggs and hope they continue to sit and then try to discourage the other 2 hens from sitting.

Another choice I may have is I have 9 poults due to hatch in the bator next week. I may be able to try to separate the broodies and give 1 or 2 of them the poults and leave the other 2 to sit on eggs

See this is why I seriously dislike broodies. Way to much to think about and stress about and then having to move everyone around. Not to mention I cant collect eggs from them because they steal them all. Broodies are such a pain
