How much would u pay for a baby turkey that 5 days old there white n black not sure there name but here a pic of the parents

Yeah that's crazy. Those r called Royal Palms. I sell my pouts for $10 each

I did not mean for what I typed to sound condescending. I wanted to express they are a purebred Heritage Turkey. Yep the ones in those photos, here is my tom.

Like I said, photos can be deceiving. Look at the top photo, in the first quote, compared to yours. He looks rather white, but you can't see the whole bird. I think that is why another poster thought he could be Royal Palm and I thought he looked like a cross. Yep, I've kept Narragansett turkeys too, lovely birds.

I have 2, 3 week old Turkeys (Black Spanish & Bourbon Red) I'm a new owner of Turkeys and I'm curious if I can put them in the same cage as my 4, 4 week old Pheasants.

I took the hobbles off my poult yesterday, day 4. No improvement. In fact, his hocks (elbows?) look swollen and I think he's getting bed sores on them. I don't want him to suffer. He seems happy enough right now, but the 2 in with him are not happy at all. They hate the plastic bin brooder. They aren't eating as well as they were and they spend a lot of time pacing, pecking the side of the bin and calling to the others in the big brooder. I'm thinking maybe I should cull him, which sucks after 5 days of hand feeding and getting attached. But his hocks have a yellow cast to them. Makes me think infection. What do you think?

Thanks for all the replies on hobby or business. I started with just a few chickens for insect control and fresh eggs to eat. Within 3 years I am npip with jersey giant chickens, peafowl, royal palm and blue slate turkey and raise XLD jumbo coturnix quail from James Marie farms. My friends and family think I've gone nuts, that is except for when they get to enjoy a great meal of fried fresh quail!! But we love the eggs and meat that we basically get paid for by the eggs and chicks/poults that I sell. This year I have completely paid for my gqf incubator, hatcher, brooders,coops and pens, the labor on the other hand is a different story. We keep so busy working 50 hours a week, 2 teenagers and the 85 acre farm. We have cattle, horses, mules, wildlife, bees, a huge garden and the poultry. Not much down time. My DH just added the bees and made the garden bigger this year. I told him that those bees will be his project, I'm busy enough with the birds!

WOW! You must be very organized. And you must love what you do.

If he's not improving by this time it is something more than just splay leg. If there's a bacterial infection in the joints he'll probably need to go on antibiotics, or be culled, since those types of infections can be difficult to resolve. I'm sorry, it's so hard to keep from getting attached to the babies that are sick.

I guess I wasn't really asking for any reason other than it helps me think (or work) it through. I culled him this afternoon. Even though his legs weren't splayed to the side anymore, he couldn't stand and could only get around on his hocks. His feet were curled. Maybe he had contracted tendons. I've processed several of my birds, but this was way harder.

I have 19 eggs in my incubator, all from my BR hen that I got in OK in March. She's sitting on eggs and still lays nearly every day. So far, they have all been fertile. I moved one dated 4/15 into the hatcher last night. No pips, but I've seen it moving. I have 2, both dated 4/19 that are due in 7 days. I just spotted an external pip on one of the 4/19 eggs. Hmmm, someone messed up.

Pheasants are known to be canibalistic & will pick each other & any other bird in with them to death. I would not put any other birds in with young pheasants. Adult turkeys or peafowl should be ok with adult pheasants, but I wouldn't truust juveniles with anything that isn't at least twice their size.

My lone poult from CDM hatch is a lavender. Think I shall keep it for a breeder regardless of gender.
